Bulldog Pantry Operations: 4 Step Process

Step #1: Ordering Product
The Central California Food Bank provides organizations like the Bulldog Pantry a list of various food items that can be purchased. Although product varies, food items available for purchase can include: pasta, rice, beans, produce, dairy products, canned food, various snacks, bread, cereal and more! The pantry relies on donations throughout the year and any product that is not donated, is purchased through the Food Bank. Food orders are then submitted.

Step #2: Receive the Product
Once orders for the Central California Food Bank have been submitted, orders are typically ready for pickup or delivery within three business days. Perishable items are refrigerated and non-perishable items are stored on shelves.

Step #3: Set Up for Distribution
The Friday before a distribution, typically in the afternoon, students assist with the set up of the distribution and if needed, prep the food. Students are responsible with stocking the tables with product, dividing product into family size portions and completing last minute prep work for the distribution the following day.

Step #4: Food Distribution
The Bulldog Pantry distributes food on designated Saturday's from 9:00AM-10:30AM. Volunteers are responsible for the distribution of food to students and families in the neighborhood surrounding California State University, Fresno and in the Fresno community. Food distributions are scheduled throughout the school year and if funding permits, the summer. A complete list of distribution dates, can be found on the Bulldog Pantry Distribution Schedule page.
